Carol Burnett is a beloved singer, actor, and comedian who has graced our screens with joy and laughter for almost 70 years.
Amazingly, she is still going strong as she approaches 90 years old by the end of April 2023.
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Burnett came to Los Angeles to live with her grandmother in Hollywood,
where she attended Hollywood High School. Burnett was born on April 26, 1933. She continued her studies at UCLA, where she fell in love with performance.
As they say, the rest is history. After graduating, Burnett caught the acting bug and moved to New York City,
where she landed her breakthrough role as the evil queen in the musical adaptation of the fairytale “Once Upon a Mattress.”
She started appearing regularly on ‘The Garry Moore Show’ about the same time, which earned her her first Emmy Award.

She also came to appreciate working on TV variety programs more because they allowed her to portray different
characters every week as opposed to Broadway, where she had to repeat the same role eight times a week for a year.
Within a few years, Burnett launched her own program, ‘The Carol Burnett Show,’ a variety program with vaudeville
roots that incorporated comic sketches, dancing, and singing. From 1967 until 1978, it was shown on CBS and enjoyed enormous popularity.
Burnett still makes people grin and laugh when she walks into a room at the age of 90. Burnett arrived on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’
while celebrating her nine decades on the planet, and she wore a chic black dress that made her look younger!

Burnett has had a unique career. Burnett, who has spent nearly 70 years in the entertainment industry, has won numerous honors,
including seven Golden Globe Awards, six Primetime Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award, and a Tony Award. She is one Oscar away from achieving the coveted EGOT status.

In addition, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award, and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
The comedienne-actor has dedicated herself from the beginning, not just to her trade but also to leading a healthy lifestyle.
In a 1978 episode of ‘The Carol Burnett Show,’ Burnett disclosed that she worked out every day for at least 30 minutes. She even performed sit-ups in front of a live audience.
Burnett told The Hollywood Reporter that she used her treadmill for 30 to 45 minutes a day while everyone was cooped up in their houses during the pandemic to keep fit.
She also took walks around the neighborhood. Regarding eating well, Burnett admitted to eating enchiladas despite her age,
claiming that since she was born in Texas, the Tex-Mex treat was the first meal she could recall having when she was just three years old.
Burnett said of her age, ‘I still feel like I’m about 11, but I’m amazed,’ to People Magazine, adding that she ‘m’can’t wrap’ her mind around it.
It moved really quickly. But I’m delighted that I have all of my body components including my hips, knees, and brain and I’m content with that.
It’s not surprising that Burnett, one of the most well-known early female comedians, wants to be remembered for making people laugh. When questioned about her legacy, she stated to People Magazine:
‘I made people laugh and lifted their spirits when they may have been depressed.’
An NBC Special Show was presented to recognize her contributions to television and the entertainment sector and to commemorate her enduring legacy.
The 90-minute spectacular, ‘Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love,’ included appearances from many celebrities,
including Amy Poehler, Ellen DeGeneres, Bob Odenkirk, Steve Carell, Julie Andrews, Vicki Lawrence, and Lily Tomlin.
Broadway luminaries Kristin Chenoweth and Bernadette Peters even gave a musical performance celebrating the friendship between Burnett
and Andrews throughout the years. Additionally present were Jane Lynch, Billy Porter, Darren Criss, Sutton Foster, and Katy Perry.
Burnett, who is currently celebrating her 90th birthday, was a guest on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ where Kimmel
talked about how she influenced his family’s culture while they were still watching her on television.
In her poised appearance on the late-night talk program, Burnett wore a stylish black suit coat with white lapels.
She accessorized the ensemble with a slender gold pendant necklace and black and silver hoop earrings.
‘I’m just thrilled to be here and I’m happy that, at this age, I’ve got all my parts,’ she said to Kimmel. ‘I’ve got my hips, my knees, and I think my brain.”
Burnett was consistently upbeat and sassy throughout the discussion as she gracefully traced her beginnings.
