15-year-old mother gives baby up for adoption, but he finds her 35 years later

Stacy Fakes of Pittsburgh made the difficult decision to give her young son up for adoption 35 years ago.

Imagine her surprise when, at the start of the marathon, she was handed a letter from her son, who had found his mother and couldn’t wait to meet her.

Stacy Fakes was only fifteen when she became pregnant. Like most teenagers in this situation, she wasn’t ready and didn’t know what to do.

Ultimately, she made the painful decision to give her son up for adoption. She didn’t even have time to hold him in her arms.

She did not believe that she would find him again. In connection with the registration of such a large number of children, she did not know how to trace the fate of that baby.

She never thought she would see her biological son. She succeeded only after 35 years, according to ABC News.

In November 2017, a law was passed allowing adoptees to know who their parents are. Stacey was preparing to run the Pittsburgh Half Marathon.

Right before the start of the race, she was handed a mysterious letter. Surprised as to why she received the letter at the start of the marathon, she opened it.

The letter read: ‘It has been 13,075 days since you last saw me. I didn’t want to make you wait another day.’

Stacey almost immediately understood what the letter meant. She ran to her son and they hugged for the first time in 35 years.
