59-pound dog found loving owners for the first time in many lonely years

When looking for a new dog, most people prefer to go only to local kennels and shelters. Another thing is Jane’s husband.

When he found photos of a 59-kilogram St. Bernard on the Internet, the couple immediately realized that they wanted him for themselves.

Jane soon boarded a plane in New York bound for Nebraska, where she picked up their new dog named Cosmo and then took him home in her car.

At Hearts United for Animals, located in Auburn, Nebraska, healthy animals are never euthanized. Cosmo came to them recently,

and almost nothing is known about his history. He was left in a shelter by a breeder, while refusing to explain the reasons for his decision.

The employees of the institution immediately realized that the charming and friendly giant would sooner or later find new owners.

True, then they still did not imagine how far he would have to go to home.

The shelter workers were moved to tears when Jane first met Cosmo. Then she got out of the car and went straight to him, clutching a small artificial alligator in her hands a toy for her new pet.

Approaching him, she did not stop smiling and talking with the dog, but soon the contented dog was already sprawled on her lap,

wagging his tail excitedly and demanding attention. From the very first moment, it became clear that Jane was destined to become the new mistress of Cosmo.

Together with Maggie, Jane’s sister, they picked up a heavy St. Bernard and put him in the car, and then set off on a long journey back home to New York.

Cosmo reacted to the car with obvious distrust apparently, he had never driven in such a car before but he soon got used to it, so it was impossible to wish for a better companion.

After arriving in a new home, the giant puppy immersed himself in new experiences. So, for example,

he managed to get acquainted with the whole family, including children and two other dogs Pappy and Handel, as well as domestic rabbits. Cosmo liked it all, of course.

The most surprising thing for the dog, apparently, was just to be in the house Jane suspects that the previous owner lived outside or in a kennel.

‘It’s so nice to watch him collapse on the cool floor, content it’s nice to know that he finally has his own place, a place where he feels good and comfortable,’ Jane told Dodo.

Although it took quite some time, Cosmo had already managed to learn how to use ladders, get in and out of the car, and even got used to being fed by his new owners.

In just a few days, he got used to other dogs, and learned how to behave at the table (the family table is just perfect in height for a large St.

Bernard, who is not averse to stealing something tasty for himself). Jane and her family are doing everything they can for Cosmo, and the puppy has already fallen in love with his new family.
