A woman in her 90s from Massachusetts came up with an unusual method to celebrate her 97th birthday:

Working outside is enjoyable and pleasant. One of life’s most undervalued pleasures is having a freshly cut lawn.

It represents a job well done, with the results of one’s labor being evident to all. Additionally,

mowing and working outside in general offer a brief respite from all other anxieties and concerns.

Marie Erickson is familiar with the pleasures of lawn mowing. In fact, the Massachusetts resident loves doing it so much that she does it every day.

In Marie’s yard, tall, clingy grass and out-of-control weeds have no chance.

Marie added, ‘Whether the grass needs cutting or not, I’m on that tractor every day. ‘I check all around, and if I see it, I cut it.’

She uses a present she acquired for her recent birthday to mow her yard every day.Marie planned her birthday celebration for May, when she will turn 97.

She used cash to purchase a $5,000 John Deere mowing tractor. Marie stated she counted her money every single month while saving for it for more than a year.

Marie persuaded herself to make the expensive buy by reminding herself that her money won’t be much use to her when she passed away.

Marie remarked, ‘I responded, ‘I think I’m worth it all these years, and I’m not taking the money with me. It will be saved by me. I’ll use it for something.

Marie stated that one activity that keeps her occupied is mowing her 2.5-acre yard. Marie also remarked that she does not enjoy doing chores.

What a wonderful example of someone who defies the limitations of aging to pursue her passions.
