Defunct Boeing 737 Is Turned Into A Unique And Quirky Rental Property That Makes For A Memorable Vacation

Are you familiar with the proverb, ‘One man’s trash is another man’s treasure?’ The best way to convey what a

British businessman did to an old airplane that he later converted into a unique Airbnb rental for other people to enjoy and have fun in is probably with this sentence.

Steven Northam said that he had purchased the front portion of an old Boeing 737-200 in a video posted on his YouTube channel in February 2023.

Northam revealed that the plane just happened to show up on eBay in an August 2023 interview with Insider, and he was immediately enthralled by it.

He explained to the outlet that it was unique, and he then considered it as a potential commercial endeavor.

Although the front portion of the airplane was no longer functional because it had already been separated from the rest of its components, he nevertheless paid over £5,000 (about $6,165) for it.

He initially gave up trying to move it, but when the original owner became involved with the shipping, it eventually showed up where he intended to set it up.

His eccentric Airbnb idea required a lot of work to materialize. He claimed to have spent a staggering £15,000 (about $18,480)

on the repair of the interior alone, in addition to repainting the exterior to make it appear brand-new.

According to what he said to the publication, he first worked on the project alone. “I did the whole thing, single-handedly, a three-month endeavor… Basically just me by myself.

The majority of the seats were first removed, and Northam had brand-new floorboards installed along with a carpet to give the room a cozy feel.

After completing his initial step, he had a large empty space, so he separated the airplane into various sections.

Northam finally succeeded in his Airbnb idea after spending more than £20,000 (about $24,679) on the full project, which included the transportation and the general restoration.

Prior to the restoration, he called the plane ‘sorry-looking,’ but it was entirely transformed into a

contemporary Airbnb holiday rental ideal for people seeking a beautiful and distinctive location to unwind.

The building’s distinctive interior and exterior design are in addition to its WiFi, Smart TVs, video game consoles, and other amenities.

It also has heating and air conditioning, as well as a glass floor that displays the cargo hold’s bottom.

A hot tub built from an old motor hood is one of the home’s standout features. To give passengers the full airplane experience, it also contains a flying simulator in the cockpit.

He still needed licenses from the local authorities as of August 2023, so the property wasn’t yet featured on Airbnb, but he intended to charge £150 (about $185.70) each night.
