Patricia Clarkson, 63, discusses her ‘big choice’ to live a life without children.

Patricia Clarkson is the most recent celebrity to discuss her reasons for not having children. She feels that although it wasn’t an easy choice at first, it was eventually the right one.

‘Patty, I just don’t want you to wake up at 50 and be sad,’ my mother replied. She remembers her mother telling her,

‘I woke up at 50 in stilettos and a thong,’ when she was asked about leading a childless life. I’ve had a really exciting, sensual life.

The Sharp Objects actress recently discussed her life decision, which has brought judgment but also a life full of happiness, with Bruce Bozzi for his podcast Table for Two.

‘I made a big choice,’ Clarkson acknowledged. But I was aware of it back then.

‘I’ve dated some attractive men in my life, and when I was 38, I had a window to start a family with one particular artist. But at the end of the day, I cherished my employment.

When it came to parenting her, Clarkson said she was aware of the sacrifices her parents made, and she knew that ‘you have to really be committed to having children to be a great parent.’

‘I was worried that I couldn’t [commit to having children]. and wished to succeed as a parent. I don’t mind if I fail as an actress.

She does not devote her entire life to work. She still has plenty of time to devote to all of her other relationships.

‘I enjoy my roles as an aunt, a sister, a daughter, and a wonderful best friend. I believe I make excellent friends. I didn’t want it to be who I was because I didn’t want to fail.

She remarked, ‘I have so many sisters who have had gorgeous children and who are currently having wonderful children.

‘I adore being an aunt, I probably love it more than acting, which is strange. They are equal. These children are very stunning, but that does not have to characterize all women, I assure you.
