Cathy and Roy Aukamp, 51 and 52 years old respectively, made this amazing discovery while settling into their new house.

They had just moved into their home in New Jersey, USA, when they encountered a flooded basement as a result of the area’s severe storms.

Cathy remembered the unexpected development: ‘My husband had to remove wet plasterboard and all these bottles came pouring out of one of the walls.’

When the viral video about the hidden stockpile reached the owner, they got in touch and admitted there are hundreds

more bottles inside. They also disclosed that they have maintained their sobriety for three years.

‘You bought a house from Captain Morgan himself!” wrote one Instagram user.

Someone another said: ‘There is nothing funny about this, that poor person had a bad addiction, and I’m sorry that the new chapter in your life had to start off this way with your new home.’

In the video, Roy can be seen removing a number of bottles from the wall as several more fall to the ground.

In an attempt to lighten the mood, Cathy asked Roy playfully whether he was ‘thirsty,’ to which Roy simply shook his head in bewilderment.

They seem to have a large task ahead of them.
