Evie Clair is not your typical 13-year-old. For starters, the American youngster has an amazing voice and a profound story, which she told on America’s Got Talent.
Evie performed ‘Arms’by Christina Perri for her audition, noting that she is performing it for her father Amos, who is facing stage four colon cancer.
Simon Cowell ordered her to perform the ‘best vocal you’ve ever done’ for the crowd as her mother and father watched from the side of the stage,
and she certainly delivered with a sincere, moving rendition of the folk-pop tune. Check out her performance in the video below.

Evie opened her audition with a cheerful introduction, stating that she is a teenager from Florence, Arizona, a very tiny town.
When she remarked, ‘There are like five prisons there, and my dad works at one of them,’ Simon joked, ‘Well, he hasn’t got much choice,’ which made the crowd and Evie chuckle.
Subsequently, Evie informed the judges that her childhood dream has always been to sing on America’s Got Talent.
‘About a year ago, my dad was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer and they gave him a five percent chance to live,’ she said, breaking down in tears.

She continued by saying that her dad is still working to provide for the family and that she was ‘here to sing for him.’ Watch Evie’s rendition of Macy Gray’s ‘I Try’ in her second episode.
‘When my dad is having rough days, I go to his room and I sing him this song to help him feel better and give him comfort and strength to continue fighting,’
Evie explained while deciding on ‘Arms’ for her audition. Before Evie nailed the audition, Cowell informed her that she had been ‘really unbelievably brave’ for sharing her tale.
Following her outstanding performance, Evie deservedly received four yes votes from the judges.
Due to her father’s health, she was later offered the option to postpone her involvement in the show, but she ultimately decided to continue on season 12.

She advanced to the finals of the competition and sang her own song, ‘Okay Day,’ before losing out when
the top five was decided. Regretfully, two weeks prior to Evie’s last episode, her father Amos Abplanalp passed away during the season.
After making an appearance on America’s Got Talent, Evie has been advancing her musical career.
She released her debut album Okay Day, which had 10 songs with Evie as the only or primary songwriter, a year after her stint on the show.
