The stunning performance of ‘Believe’ by Adam Lambert brought tears to Cher’s eyes.

The renowned 1998 hit song ‘Believe’ by Cher was sung by American Idol graduate and current Queen vocalist Adam Lambert at the 41st Annual Kennedy Center Honors in 2019,

bringing the legendary pop diva to tears. The Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C., USA, served as the broadcast location for the yearly awards event on December 26, 2018.

The event recognizes people for their lifetime accomplishments in the arts. Cher was one of the honorees, and Adam Lambert was paying tribute to her at the ceremony.

The original ‘Believe’ was bright and energetic, while Lambert’s rendition was poignant and ballad-like.

As Lambert sang, the camera turned to see a clearly affected Cher blotting away tears. Cher expressed

her continued emotional response to the performance on Twitter three weeks later, noting that it was ‘BEYOND COMPREHENSION.’

At the Kennedy Center Honors, Cher wasn’t the only performer to get an unexpected surprise. After informing Cher that she was out of town,

rock icon Cyndi Lauper shocked her by performing ‘If I Could Turn Back Time.’ The performance was concluded by a duet of ‘I Got You Babe” by Lauper and Lambert.

In a recent interview, Lambert discussed his legendary rendition of ‘Believe’ with Attitude magazine.

Before the show, Lambert claimed to be extremely apprehensive and to have his heart in his throat. He did, however,

add that it was an honor to sing a song by one of the greatest vocalists of all time. When Lambert graduated

from high school, he was a lover of Cher’s music, and his favorite album of the 1998 release was ‘Believe.’

There have been previous occasions when Lambert has dazzled audiences with an homage to a music icon before his performance at the Kennedy Center Honors.

In 2016, Lambert’s amazing voice was honoring George Michael on the television program ‘Greatest Hits.’

This time, he gave an amazing rendition of the 1987 popular song ‘Faith.’ Both of Lambert’s performances

have left fans extremely impressed, earning him the title of greatest vocalist of his generation.

One of the biggest honors an American performer can be given is the Kennedy Center Honors. After 44 years, the awards ceremony honors people for their lifetime accomplishments in the arts.

At the 2018 presentation, Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Hamilton crew were among the honorees, along with jazz composer Wayne Shorter, country music icon Reba McEntire, and Philip Glass.
