Man Receives High Praise for Helping Out an Older Woman at the Grocery Store…

Being kind and giving to others is invaluable because, no matter how much money you spend on their behalf, you will always feel satisfied knowing that you were able to support those in need.

When a father saw an old woman at the grocery store, he responded just like this.In March 2017, a story on news.com.au

stated that Ryan O’Donnell, a man, was standing in line at a Wyoming supermarket to pay for his goods.

In front of him was an old woman. Sadly, despite the cashier’s best efforts to swipe the card multiple times,

the kind elderly woman’s card continued getting denied, making it difficult for her to buy her purchases.

O’Donnell intervened and made the decision to assist the woman by covering the cost of her groceries.

The 34-year-old father said on ‘The Today Show,’ ‘I was just there in the grocery aisle or checkout with my kids and I saw the old lady having some trouble with the card.’

‘By that stage my groceries had gone through and I went around and spoke to the young lady and said ‘how much is it’ and they said $44 or something…

her card kept being declined due to insufficient funds so I said ‘Look, here’s $50 just take it out of that’,’ he recalled, providing additional context for the endearing exchange.

His deed of generosity made it onto social media, where it was widely praised by others upon the sharing of a picture of him with the elderly woman.

‘This guy at Wyoming Coles who just went through the register with his two kids paid for this ladies groceries when her card kept declining,” @Boycey1105 posted in the image’s caption on social media.

The elderly woman was standing at the counter in the picture, dressed in blue slacks and a white shirt,

while O’Donnell was dressed in black shorts and a yellow shirt. In the photo, her convertible walker was also visible.

The user revealed in a later post that O’Donnell refused to reimburse the elderly woman despite her insistence on being paid back.

‘She wanted to pay him back eventually and he just said ‘Don’t worry, have a good day,’ but I couldn’t fit it in the original tweet,’ the user continued.

In an interview, O’Donnell went on to describe the interaction, saying, ‘The woman wanted to know how she was going to get the money back to me.’

‘Oh look, don’t worry about it, you’ll be right, and enjoy your day,’ I said. After that, I guess I went to Gloria Jeans to buy myself a coffee before leaving.

He said that the woman was ‘getting confused’ and that she reminded him of his own grandmother when questioned why he had made the kind gesture.

‘I was unable to leave… That’s how my parents raised me,’ he continued. Social media users applauded O’Donnell for his bravery, with one writing,

‘Absolute Champion.’ This world needs more people who are like him. Imagine how wonderful life would be if we could all give?

‘There is still good in this world,’ another one wrote.
