Umi Garret is a multi-award-winning classical pianist. Umi took first place in the 2008 Southwestern Youth Music Festival and the J.S. Bach Competition,

She also placed as a finalist in the Canada International Piano Competition in 2021 and the Young Concert Artists Competition in 2020.
Umi Garratt speaks English and Japanese fluently because of her family’s Japanese ancestry. Notably,

the 13-year-old Umi started a concert tour of northern Japan in 2013, which was hit hard by the earthquake and tsunami in 2011.
2015 saw a return of the Kizuna Concert Tour, which featured performances for the impacted kids at four local primary schools.
This speaks to her character and maintains the favorable impression she gave on The Ellen Show.
Umi Garrett put out her first album at the age of nine, her second at twelve, and her third at eighteen.
Ludwig van Beethoven’s complete Sonatas for Piano and Cello, which she co-wrote with cellist Emily Mantone, will soon be available.
Umi Garrett concluded the 2022 academic year as a graduate of the esteemed Juilliard Music School.
As I watch the endearing video of 8-year-old Umi Garrett performing her renditions of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star pieces,
I can’t help but wonder what would happen if she moved into rock music. Her stage presence would rival that of Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Lee Lewis!
It’s classical music’s gain over rock. Umi Garrett, a classical pianist, is no longer a young child prodigy. She is an emerging talent.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show is home to moving talent, young and elderly alike. Ellen enjoys entertaining a diverse range of visitors, including common folks with amazing abilities.

Umi Garrett, then nine years old, was no exception when she was asked to appear on the show in 2011 due to her extraordinary piano skills!
The footage starts with Garrett storming onto the talk show stage, waving wildly and approaching Ellen to give her a bear hug.
She speaks openly about her love of playing the piano, her large eyes shining out from her small frame and her charming grin.
Umi acknowledges that she began learning to play the piano at the age of four and a half, when she enrolled in her preschool teacher’s after-school program.
Garrett, who is eager to learn and play, acknowledges that her parents had to set ‘piano rules’ for her.
Her parents had to arrange a pleasant routine for her because she is always eager to play and doesn’t like to disturb the neighbors!
She confesses to Ellen that she loves music so much that she would play the piano all day and all night if she could.
Garrett not only plays the piano beautifully for a nine-year-old, but she can also play tricks on it since she feels at ease there!
She shows Ellen her incredible talent by guiding her to the piano.

Garrett walks over to the piano and presses the bench in.
She plays a highly classical version of “Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star” on the piano with an innocent smile on her face—backwards and without looking!
The crowd joyfully claps her on. She continues by showing them another ruse. It’s the same tune as before, but reversed!
