Initially in love
After Banderas wed actress Melanie Griffith, he embarked on a road towards a blended family.
Even though they were still married to other people when they first met, the two soon fell in love.
The actress, who was born in Malaga, had long liked Griffith; he remembered being enthralled with her appearance in the 1988 film Working Girl.
While collaborating on the movie Two Much, where both stars were navigating troubled marriages, their bond grew stronger.
Speaking candidly about their relationship, Banderas told People that sometimes things just don’t work out.
However, we acknowledged that we were not happy. When I saw her with her children, she was an extremely attractive mother.

A mixed-race household
Following their 1996 wedding, Banderas and Griffith welcomed two children into their union: Dakota Johnson, the actress’s daughter,
and Alexander Bauer, the son of actress Steven Bauer. Banderas took on the role of a stepfather, although he has said that it was difficult at first.
‘I was very inexperienced, and the kids had to accept me, so it was difficult,’ he said to AARP. But over time, he won the kids’ trust and established himself as a reliable figure in their lives.
Banderas, now sixty-three, went on to describe the process of assimilating into the family, saying,
‘As soon as the kids knew I was there to stay, they were fine.’ They required a stable environment in which to develop.
After overcoming the early obstacles, Banderas started building a bond with the kids, giving them stability and progressively adopting a fatherly position.
The birth of his daughter Stella created a new dynamic in the blended family and tested his dedication to them.
The Spanish actor maintained a love relationship with his stepchildren in spite of the difficulties.
Always a dad, once a dad
Dakota’s acting career had a notable boost as a result of Banderas’s participation in her life.
In 1999, Banderas directed Crazy in Alabama, the film in which Dakota made her acting debut. She eventually became well-known for
her performance in the movie Fifty Shades of Grey. Banderas was a major factor in Dakota’s initial exposure to the movie business.

When Banderas gave Dakota the Best Actor Award at the 2019 Hollywood Film Awards, it was clear how much of an impact she had on his career.
Dakota spoke passionately about the actor’s significance in her life, saying, ‘We found his English to be amazing, and
he was so vibrant, fun, and funny.’ According to HOLA, she called him ‘’papito,’ a loving blend of ‘papa’ (daddy in Spanish) and Antonio.
Banderas and Dakota’s relationship has endured despite the breakup of Banderas and Griffith’s 18-year marriage in 2014.
The 34-year-old Dakota hailed her former dad at the Hollywood Film Awards, exclaiming, ‘My stepfather!
Then Antonio Banderas entered our lives. Our lives were profoundly altered by his immense affection for us.
Banderas responded by expressing his affection and dedicating the trophy to Dakota, saying, ‘She’s my daughter.’ I cherish her.
It’s obvious that Banderas’ experience as a stepfather serves as further evidence of the transformational potential that love and dedication have in mixed families. What a sweet tale!
