The swindler, who introduced himself as Leonardo DiCaprio, convinced the girl that she was dating a Hollywood actor.

The press service of Cheboksary Ministry of Internal Affairs informed about the incident.

The case began in January last year, when the criminal wrote to the 32-year-old girl, who works as a consultant, and began to show signs of attention on behalf of Leonardo DiCaprio.

After five months of communication, a new opportunity was opened for her to ‘become a superfan’,

which included the opportunity to talk to the actor via video call and which cost 80 thousand rubles.

The girl, believing the fake DiCaprio, took a loan and transferred the received money to the fraudster.

They even had a conversation, but it lasted only a second, and he didn’t manage to understand anything.

They later continued to communicate online, but in the end she had to go to the police. The victim

of the scam realized that he was being lied to after a Hollywood actor asked him to help pay for a ticket to Cheboksary.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has already announced that a criminal case has been initiated under the article of fraud.
