Denny and Karen Vinar met as teens and fell deeply in love. They even had a kid when Karen was just 15 years old, but after placing their child for adoption, they were forced to part ways. What they never expected was to see each other again after more than 50 years.
‘I only lived two streets from the school,’ Karen said fondly, ‘so he would walk me home after school nearly every day.’
‘After football or basketball games, you’d go down and shower, and she’d be waiting up there all for me,’ Denny continued.
The couple assumed they’d be together forever when they married in 1961, but a positive pregnancy test altered everything.
When Karen’s family learned of her pregnancy, they moved her to an unwed mothers’ home, where Denny would only have a few chances to see her.
The couple only held their newborn girl for an hour after she was born before she was given up for adoption.
‘We didn’t see her again after that. We had a picture taken of her, and that was the last time we saw her’ According to WSVN, Karen stated.
The pair stayed in love, and Denny proposed to Karen after returning home from the military in the 1960s.
Despite the fact that she answered yes, her family refused to offer their blessing since they want Jaren to pursue an education.
They found it exceedingly difficult to part ways because they were in love with one other, but they had no choice.
‘I didn’t stop thinking about her, no. I’d say she has a piece of my heart. She was never far away,’ Denny maintained.
They’ve been living separate lives in different sections of the county for the past 53 years. Karen piqued my interest in 2014, so I decided to search her up online.
Fortunately, he tracked her out and left a message at her Everett, Washington, employer.
Karen remembered, ‘I called back right away and asked – how did you find me?’ Karen was overjoyed to reconnect with her old flame. Denny was on his way to meet Karen in no time.
‘It was simply magical. She left the car, raced around, and jumped on me, saying, ‘Babe, you’re home.’ Nothing seems to have changed.
His dimples included. When he grinned and his eyes twinkled, ‘Karen, who married Denny 36 hours later and settled down in the Twin Cities, said. On the other hand, something was missing. It was their daughter.
‘Karen, it took me this long to find you,’ he said one day. If we could just find our kid, my life would be perfect.’
‘She told me about their discussion. Soon after, the two collaborated with Lutheran Social Services to locate Jean, who, after much thought and communication, chose to see her biological parents.
‘There’s not too many emotions that match to not seeing your parents in a long time and then having them step in the door. It’s a deeply moving and heartfelt event. Oh my gosh, I thought as he went through the door and I gazed at him.
Because I’ve never, ever looked anyone else. Never, ever, ever’ Jean agreed. They’re now working to make up for all the missed holidays, birthdays, and time.
