Brilliant Choreography Keeps Audience Laughing During ‘Mistake’ Ballet Parody

Vienna Opera House

Ballet is a sight to behold when the dancers are in perfect sync, but it turns out that ballet is also very effective when the dancers are out of sync.

This parody dance routine is performed at the Vienna State Opera in Austria by ballerinas. Planned ‘mistakes’ are incorporated

into the routine for comedic effect; however, performing this routine without making actual errors is challenging!

When Ballet Goes Wrong is a brilliant work of comedic choreography by New York City ballet maestro Jerome Robbins.

Each ‘mistake’ the professional dancers make are met with laughter from the crowd, subtly simulating the experience of watching a

performance that is out of sync. Ironically, the exercise is carried out to Chopin’s E-minor ‘Mistake’ Waltz.
