There has always been a lot of curiosity and interest surrounding the relationship between Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Since the famous couple’s 1997 nuptials, there have been rumors of marital strife and claims that their union is open.

Jada said that she and will have been leading ‘completely separate lives’ since 2016 in an upcoming NBC News interview with Hoda Kotb.

Although it wasn’t a divorce on paper, Jada referred to it as such. She said that until now, they haven’t been ready to announce their breakup to the world.

By the time we reached 2016, we had simply had enough of trying, according to Jada. We were both,

‘I think, just kind of still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.’
‘I swore there would never be a justification for us to get divorced.

Whatever comes up, we’ll deal with it, she continued. Simply said, ‘I just haven’t been able to break that promise.’

Will and Jada’s relationship has long been the focus of conjecture. Apparently having an open marriage, Jada said in 2013:

‘I’ve always told Will, ‘You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay’.

Will is his own man, at the end of the day. He is his own man, but I’m here as his partner,’ Jada remarked in an interview.

Later, Jada refuted claims that they were an open marriage. August Alsina, a rapper and artist, claimed in

2020 that he had an affair with Jada with Will’s approval. Pinkett Smith is 20 years older than Alsina.

Later, the pair acknowledged that Pinkett Smith and Alsina had a ‘entanglement,’ but they cut it up when

she reconnected with Will because it took place during their marital separation. But it’s obvious today that they never reconciled.

Recently, Jada Pinkett Smith also shared personal details with People Magazine and admitted that her relationship with Will was still developing.

Jada remarked, ‘We’re still working it out. ‘Much has occurred. Relationships are strange in that they move so quickly.

Relationships are an organism in itself. It’s a unique thing. It’s always changing and always moving.

Because of all that has happened over the past two years, we have been working extremely hard together.

She said that, in contrast to what the press had claimed, they never had an ‘open marriage’ and that, in fact, they had secretly taken breaks from one another.

According to Jada, ‘I think where that got confusing is that as time went on, there were different stages in my marriage

where Will and I decided we were not together,” she said in an interview with People. “We kept the public from knowing that

I was considering separating or getting a divorce. There have been numerous occasions when we have gone our

separate ways and conducted our lives. I believe that’s where folks may have assumed that they must be in an open relationship.

Jaden, 25, and Willow, 22, are the couple’s two children, born to Will and Jada. Both children are actors and singers, just like their parents.
